“Dutta, Not Kutta”: Man Barks Like a Dog to Fix Ration Card Error

Bankura, West Bengal – In a bizarre but telling act of protest against bureaucratic apathy, a man named Srikanti Dutta from Bankura made headlines after barking like a dog in front of a government official to get a misspelled name corrected on his ration card.

The issue? His surname “Dutta” was wrongly printed as “Kutta” — the Hindi word for dog.

This wasn’t the first time the mistake happened. Dutta claimed he had submitted three separate correction applications, but the error continued, with the latest version once again showing his name as “Srikanti Kutta.”

“I applied three times, but they kept writing Kutta instead of Dutta,” Dutta said to the media. “I was mentally disturbed and just wanted someone to listen.”

His protest may have seemed outlandish, but two days after the video went viral, the government finally corrected his surname.
