'Matter Of Faith...': CM Nayab Singh Saini's Shocking Reaction Cow Vigilante Killing

People's sentiments are deeply connected to Gau Mata (Mother Cow), and when such information arises, villagers tend to react.

In response to the recent incident in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, where a migrant laborer from West Bengal was lynched by a group of cow vigilantes over suspicions of consuming beef, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini has issued a statement addressing the tragic event. The CM emphasized the emotional and cultural significance of cows in the region, stating, "We have implemented strict laws to protect cows, and there is no compromise on this matter. People's sentiments are deeply connected to Gau Mata (Mother Cow), and when such information arises, villagers tend to react."

The incident occurred on August 27, when a group of five men, along with two minors, attacked Sabir Malik, a migrant worker, over suspicions that he had eaten beef. The attackers lured Sabir to a shop under the pretext of buying plastic bottles, where they severely beat him. Despite intervention by some locals, the assailants took Sabir to another location and continued the assault, leading to his death.

The Haryana police have arrested the five accused individuals and taken the two minors into custody. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kumar, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are actively investigating the matter. "The accused are currently under police remand, and we are interrogating them to uncover further details," Kumar said.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra also condemned the incident, taking to social media platform X to criticize the cow vigilantes involved and hold the BJP accountable for inciting hatred. She stated, "Haryana’s cow vigilantes have killed 26-year-old migrant Sabir from Bengal on mere suspicion of eating beef. Justice must be served, and we must acknowledge that countless individuals like Sabir have lost their lives due to the hate fueled by the BJP."

This incident has sparked widespread outrage and debate over the growing incidents of lynching in India, particularly those involving cow vigilantes. CM Saini stressed that while the cultural significance of cows is undeniable, such acts of violence are unfortunate and must be prevented. He urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and reiterated that "lynching incidents are tragic and should not occur."

The victim, Sabir Malik, lived in a makeshift hut near Badhra village in Charkhi Dadri and made a living by collecting and selling waste materials. His death has not only shaken the local community but has also drawn national attention to the issue of mob violence and the need for stricter enforcement of the law to protect vulnerable individuals.
