Sadhguru, NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams and Scientist Kavya Manyapu Discuss Science, Consciousness and Space Exploration at Harvard Event

At the Harvard-hosted Consciousness, Science, Spirituality, and Global Impact 2025conference, Sadhguru, astronaut Sunita Williams, and NASA scientist Kavya Manyapu discussed the harmony between space exploration and human consciousness. The dialogue emphasized inclusivity, unity, and the importance of inner awareness in guiding technological and cosmic progress.

At the intersection of science and spirituality, an extraordinary dialogue unfolded as Sadhguru engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with NASA astronaut Commander Sunita Williams and space scientist Dr. Kavya Manyapu at the Consciousness, Science, Spirituality, and Global Impact 2025 conference. The event was hosted by the Sadhguru Centre for Conscious Planet (SCCP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Teaching Hospital.

Conscious Space Exploration: Bridging Inner and Outer Worlds

Themed “Conscious Space Exploration,” the session explored how humanity’s outward journey into the cosmos mirrors its inner quest for understanding and awareness.
Sadhguru emphasized that as technology empowers humanity, inclusivity must deepen to prevent self-destruction. “As you get more empowered, you must become more inclusive; otherwise, you’re a disaster for yourself and for everybody,” he cautioned.

He urged that space exploration should transcend national and cultural divisions:

“When we leave this planet, we must leave our differences behind. Space exploration must be driven by a human longing to know—not an American or Russian longing—but a collective human pursuit of discovery.”

Sunita Williams: “From Space, There Are No Borders”

Commander Sunita Williams, who has spent over 608 days in space, shared how viewing Earth from orbit dissolves divisions:

“When you look at Earth, you don’t see borders. You see one small mud ball floating in the universe. It makes you realize we are all in this together.”

Reflecting on her time in space, she added, “One of the greatest gifts of living in space is the ability to focus completely on the present moment. Coming back to Earth, the distractions make awareness harder.”

The Role of Consciousness in Human Evolution

Sadhguru shared on X (formerly Twitter):

The two-day conference (Oct 11–12, 2025) brought together leading minds from science, spirituality, and academia to discuss how consciousness influences global well-being and innovation.
Speakers included Swami Sarvapriyananda (Vedanta Society of New York), Dr. Dean Radin (Institute of Noetic Sciences), Dr. Jude Currivan (cosmologist), and Prof. Vikram Patel (Harvard Medical School).

The event’s host, Dr. Bala Subramaniam, Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Director of SCCP, said the gathering aimed to “expand understanding of consciousness as a catalyst for planetary well-being and scientific innovation.”
