70-Year-Old Man Arrested for Molesting Young Girl in Uttar Pradesh After Viral Video Emerges

Sitapur, September 6, 2024 — A 70-year-old man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh after a disturbing video of him molesting a young girl went viral on social media. The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, occurred when the man, identified as Mohammad Anwar, inappropriately touched the girl under the guise of giving her a treat.

The shocking video, which surfaced online, shows Anwar using the pretext of offering a chocolate to lure the girl closer before committing the act. The footage, widely shared on social media, led to his swift arrest by Sitapur police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The incident took place on September 3, when the young girl went to Anwar's small shop to purchase snacks. The video, shared by Lakshay Mehta on X (formerly Twitter), captures the moment of abuse, which has been met with widespread condemnation.

The video has garnered over 100,000 views and numerous comments since it was posted on September 4. Many users expressed outrage, with one commenting, "Strict action must be taken against such individuals," while another questioned, "Couldn’t the girl have been rescued immediately instead of filming the incident?"
