Thane: Woman Uses Fake Name, Passport to Travel to Pakistan And Marry Boyfriend; Case Filed

Nagma Noor, who had changed her name to Sanam in 2015 because she disliked her original name, reportedly met a Pakistani national named Babar Bashir Ahmed in 2021 through social media.

Thane: Nagma Noor, a resident of Thane, is now under police scrutiny due to suspicions surrounding her recent travels to Pakistan. Authorities suspect that she used fraudulent documents to obtain an Aadhaar card, passport, and visa. However, Nagma's mother claims that all her documents are legitimate and that her daughter's name change is entirely valid.

Nagma Noor, who had changed her name to Sanam in 2015 because she disliked her original name, reportedly met a Pakistani national named Babar Bashir Ahmed in 2021 through social media. Following their online interactions, Nagma applied for a visa to Pakistan but initially faced difficulties. In February 2024, she married Babar online and subsequently applied for and received a visa to Pakistan. She traveled there on May 27, 2024.

Suspicious Documents

The police are suspicious of Nagma's documents because she had changed her name from Nagma Noor Maqsood Ali to Sanam Khan and obtained her passport and visa under the new name. Nagma's mother asserts that this name change was made legally in 2015 after her daughter separated from her previous spouse, and that all her documents were updated accordingly.

Investigation and Current Status

According to the Thane police, Nagma’s connection with Babar, who works at a hotel in Rawalpindi, and her online marriage have raised red flags. Nagma returned to Mumbai on July 17, 2024, after her stay in Pakistan. Since then, the police have filed a case and launched an investigation but have neither detained nor arrested her. The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Social Media Connection

Nagma's friendship with Babar began in 2021 via Facebook, which later transitioned to WhatsApp. Their online relationship eventually led to their marriage and Nagma's subsequent travel to Pakistan.

The case remains under investigation as the authorities look into the legitimacy of Nagma's documents and the nature of her travels.
