Tragic Landslide in Mehsana on Dussehra Claims Six Workers’ Lives
In a tragic incident in Mehsana, Gujarat, six workers lost their lives when the soil collapsed at a construction site on Dussehra. The accident occurred near Kadi town, 37 kilometers from the district headquarters, turning the festive day into a day of mourning. The police reported that the workers were trapped under the debris as they were working on an underground tank for a private company.
Rescue Operations Save Lives, But More Workers Still Trapped
Dr. Hasrat Jasmin, District Development Officer (DDO) of Mehsana, confirmed that around 9 to 10 people were trapped in the collapse. Rescue teams were able to recover six bodies and saved a 19-year-old boy who provided further details about the accident. According to his statement, 8 to 9 workers were at the site at the time of the incident, and authorities fear that 2 to 3 people may still be trapped under the debris. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with hopes of saving the remaining workers.
