In a remarkable achievement for Uttar Pradesh’s arms industry, the Hardoi-based Webley Scott India factory has received a major order of 10,455 Webley-455 revolvers from the United States. The Webley-455: A Historic Weapon

Originally manufactured in England in 1887, the Webley-455 revolver is a classic firearm that served in various global conflicts, including both World Wars. Known for its lightweight design and 50-meter shooting range, the revolver has a storied history, with production halted nearly a century ago. Now, this iconic revolver is being revived and produced in India, with global demand following suit.

The newly established Webley Scott India unit in Hardoi has been producing these high-quality revolvers for both domestic and defense markets. With the U.S. order for over 10,000 units, this achievement highlights the success of Uttar Pradesh’s investment initiatives under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision. According to factory director Surendra Pal Singh, the revolvers will soon be shipped to the U.S., bringing international recognition to India’s growing arms manufacturing sector.

A Proud Moment for Hardoi and Uttar Pradesh

District Magistrate Mangla Prasad Singh praised the achievement, stating that it represents a major milestone for India’s defense production. He acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath in promoting local manufacturing through initiatives like the UP Investors Meet. This success not only puts Hardoi on the global map but also showcases India’s capability in exporting world-class arms and defense products.
