Who is Governor C.V. Ananda Bose? Unveils His Own Statue, Raj Bhavan Clarifies Amid Controversy

Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, a former IAS officer and BJP member, sparked controversy by unveiling his own statue at the Raj Bhavan. Opposition leaders condemned the act, but the Raj Bhavan clarified that it was a gifted statue and the incident was misrepresented. Bose has been serving as West Bengal’s Governor since November 2022.

 

West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose went all wrong at the Raj Bhavan once again after the visuals of unveiling a statue of himself surfaced. The opposition parties like TMC and CPI(M) have been claiming that this act is in appropriate.

Born on January 2, 1951, in Kottayam, Kerala, Bose is an alumnus of BITS Pilani and completed his PhD from BITS Pilani. He was the erstwhile IAS officer who held various critical positions, such as Chief Secretary and university Vice-Chancellor, and joined the BJP after retirement. He was designated Governor of West Bengal on 23 November 2022.

The Raj Bhavan has issued a clarification stating the statue was a gift and not installed on the premises. The clarification added that many artists present similar tokens and have misrepresented the incident.
