Saif Ali Khan Undergoes Surgery After Stabbing Incident at Mumbai Residence
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was recovering yesterday after being stabbed in a late-night break-in at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The 54-year-old actor was hospitalised at Lilavati Hospital after suffering several injuries during a scuffle with the intruder around 2:30 am on Thursday.
Mumbai Police confirmed that an unknown man entered the actor's 11th-floor apartment and was involved in a dispute with household staff. Khan intervened, and a scuffle ensued during which he suffered several stab wounds, including one near his spine.
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, wife of Khan, and their children, Taimur and Jeh, were not hurt in the incident. The authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) and are investigating the case. Three household staff members, one of whom was also injured, are being questioned.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, said Khan had six injuries, two of which were critical. A team of specialists, including a neurosurgeon and a cosmetic surgeon, performed a 2.5-hour procedure, followed by plastic surgery. The actor is now stable and recovering.
Police have deployed multiple teams, including the Crime Branch, to locate the intruder. Investigators are reviewing security footage and interrogating household staff as part of their inquiry.
A veteran of Indian cinema, Khan made his debut in 1993 with Parampara. He has been a part of more than 60 films so far and received critical acclaim for his performances in Dil Chahta Hai, Omkara, and Tanhaji. He was last seen in the blockbuster Devara Part 1 and is popular for his presence in streaming series such as Sacred Games.
Representatives of the actor issued a statement confirming the incident and asking for privacy, stating, "This is a police matter, and we will keep fans updated on Saif's recovery."
