Job Scam Tragedy: Pooja Arrested for ₹76.5 Lakh Loot that Forced Husband to Take his own Life

This comes after 51-year-old attendant Shridhar Satarkar alias Kerkar, OBC Corporation, was found dead hanging from a tree in Kunkoliem-Mardol.

Margao, Karnataka : In a tragic twist of circumstances, Shravani alias Pooja Purushottam Naik has been arrested by Mardol police for abetment of suicide. This comes after 51-year-old attendant Shridhar Satarkar alias Kerkar, OBC Corporation, was found dead hanging from a tree in Kunkoliem-Mardol.

The case came to the fore after Shruti, wife of Shridhar Satarkar, lodged a complaint stating that Pooja had been deceiving her husband in a fraudulent scheme for government jobs. According to Shruti, Pooja along with her associate, Ajit Satarkar, was taking money from people under the assurance of government jobs. But Pooja never provided them with the promised jobs nor returned the money taken from them, causing severe financial and mental harassment to Shridhar.

Shridhar Satarkar was not spotted on October 30, the very next day when Pooja and Ajit had been released on bail. This put him in question immediately, and a search was made that unraveled his tragic end. In police investigation, it came out that Pooja had been blackmailing Shridhar, harassing him mentally as well, whenever she could not keep her promises.

After finding the body of Shridhar, the police went into an overdrive and arrested the accused ones. On Saturday, Mardol police arrested Pooja from Kadamba Plateau. She was produced in a Ponda court and is under three-day police custody, awaiting more legal proceedings.

The case highlights the alarming trend of employment scams in India, where fraudsters exploit the jobs-the-steady-agenda dream in people. The authorities have called for vigilance and carefulness among the public at large to avoid falling victims to over-ambitious proposals that read too good to be true. They advise checking the authenticity of such propositions through proper channels, avoiding disclosures of details of personal or financial information to unauthenticated parties.

The police spokesperson, Inspector Ravi Desai said that "We are committed to doing proper investigations in this case. It is sad that people have been losing their life savings on account of fraudulent operations. We urge victims like those in this scam to come forward and report to the authorities."

The Karnataka High Court has yet not made any orders pertaining to the case, but right now, she is on her way to getting nabbed for all fraudulent employment scams. The legal fraternity seems to be confident that the fear of arrest may detract others from resorting to such schemes, but at the same time emotional and financial distress will continue to haunt families of victims.

The people mourn the death of Shridhar Satarkar in the ongoing investigation, but hope in stronger regulations and a watchful eye for the future. Counseling services are made available to families that were affected by fraudulent employment schemes, acknowledging that both action in the law books and social support systems are necessary to put an end to the scourge of fraud which is prevalent all around.
