India vs Australia 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma Joins Kohli and Dhoni in Unwanted Record After 10-Wicket Loss

Rohit Sharma joined an unenviable list with his fourth straight Test defeat as India captain after a 10-wicket loss to Australia in the pink-ball Test. Despite efforts from rookie Nitish Kumar Reddy, India’s batting struggled, with Pat Cummins taking 5/57. Australia maintained their unbeaten record in day-night Tests with ease.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was in a really unenviable position when his team lost the pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide on December 8 in a 10-wicket defeat. This loss placed him on the same side of former captains Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Datta Gaekwad, and MAK Pataudi at the helm of the cricketing affairs of India to suffer four or more straight losses as captain.

The match was the shortest-ever Test between India and Australia in terms of deliveries bowled. India's batting lineup crumbled across both innings, with senior players Rohit and Virat Kohli underperforming. Beginning the second day at 128/5, rookie Nitish Kumar Reddy's 42 briefly delayed an innings defeat, but India was bowled out for a meager 175.

Australia needed only 19 runs to win the match, which they did easily in the fourth over. Pat Cummins led the Australian attack with a stunning 5/57 and sent back key Indian players, including KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Despite a big win in the previous Test in Perth, India's batting problems again came to the fore, surviving only 81 overs over both innings in Adelaide. The result extended Australia's unbeaten run in day-night Tests and added to India's struggles under Rohit's captaincy.
