WATCH: Virat Kohli Falls for Just 5 as Josh Hazlewood's Fiery Delivery Leaves India in Trouble at Perth Test

Virat Kohli dismissed for 5 runs by Josh Hazlewood in Perth Test, marking the fourth time Hazlewood has claimed Kohli in red-ball cricket. India struggles at 51/4.

New Delhi: Yet again, red-ball cricket didn't go right for Virat Kohli as the batting star of India was shown the door for just 5 runs in the first session of the Perth Test against Australia. Already India was in trouble at 14/2, when the experienced batsman came to the crease, could not resist Josh Hazlewood's fierce delivery that nipped in with extra bounce to bring an edge that carried to wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

This is the fourth time that Kohli has been sent back by Hazlewood in Tests and adds to the pacer's reputation of being one of the few bowlers who have had consistent success against Indian maestro.

India Collapse Early in Perth

India, who chose to bat after winning the toss, was left at 32/3 in 16.2 overs after Kohli fell. The team slumped to 51/4 by the end of the first session, which put tremendous pressure on the middle order to salvage the innings.

Josh Hazlewood Shines in Perth

That Hazlewood delivery that sent Kohli could only have been more extraordinary. The ball merely short of length, bowling the Indian star off balance with its extra bounce. The tentative poke by Kohli allowed Alex Carey to snatch a simple catch as fans and commentators in commentary boxes took a collective thud.

Hazlewood's line and length again remained a challenge for Kohli, solidifying his domination over the Indian batter in test cricket.

What’s Next for Team India?

With the top order collapsing early, the pressure now falls on the middle and lower order to steady the ship. Kohli’s early dismissal, combined with the precarious position of 51/4, has raised concerns about India’s approach to handling Australia’s pace attack on a bouncy Perth pitch.

This latest failure also reignites the debate over Kohli’s form in Test cricket. Fans and critics alike are eager to see if the 36-year-old can regain his consistency, especially in high-stakes matches against formidable opponents like Australia.
