Kanpur, October 1 – Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has set a new world record by becoming the fastest player in cricket history to reach 27,000 international runs. Kohli achieved this milestone in just 594 innings during the second Test against Bangladesh, surpassing the previous record held by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli, who came in at No. 5, scored 47 runs off 35 balls, including a six and four boundaries, in the ongoing Test match. This innings saw him reach the coveted 27,000-run mark, making him the only player to do so in fewer than 600 innings. Kohli's achievement is even more remarkable considering he is only the fourth batter in history to cross this milestone.

Previously, Tendulkar held the record, having reached 27,000 runs in 623 innings. Other cricketing greats to have achieved this feat include Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who took 648 innings, and Australian icon Ricky Ponting, who reached the mark in 650 innings.

With this accomplishment, Kohli has not only broken Tendulkar's long-standing record but has also solidified his place in cricket's 147-year history as the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs.
