How a Pakistani Woman Secured a Government Teaching Job in India: Revelation Causes Uproar in Education Department

In a shocking discovery, a Pakistani woman obtained a government teaching position in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district using falsified documents, including a fake birth certificate and a forged domicile certificate.

In a shocking case of alleged fraud, the education department in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district has found that a Pakistani national had managed to get a job as an assistant teacher in a government primary school by producing forged documents. The revelations have sent shockwaves through the department and raised serious questions about the verification process for government jobs.

Falsified Documents and False Domicile Certificate

According to officials, the woman, Shumaila Khan, allegedly obtained the teaching job at the Government Primary School in Madhopur using a fake birth certificate. She also submitted a domicile certificate allegedly issued by the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Rampur. Further investigation revealed that the certificate had several discrepancies. It was declared invalid, which further confirmed that Khan is indeed a Pakistani citizen and not an Indian citizen.

Appointment under Question for a Long Time

Her recruitment as an assistant teacher was sanctioned by the BSA of Bareilly in 2015. However, she had remained in the school since then and no one raised objections to her till a controversy erupted on the discrepancies of her documents and thus the case was subjected to a formal probe into her background. In that probe, it was found that her domicile certificate was fabricated, and she was hiding crucial information about herself.

Administrative and legal action

Upon confirmation of the fake documents, the education department acted forthwith. The District Basic Education Officer suspended Khan on October 3, 2024, canceling her appointment from the date of her original hiring. Moreover, the Block Education Officer of Fatehganj Paschimi lodged a written complaint with the local police, which resulted in the registration of a case against Khan under serious charges.

Woman on the Run

Following the FIR, Khan went into hiding, and law enforcement agencies are now on the lookout for her. If apprehended, she is expected to face legal consequences for forging government-issued documents and misrepresenting her nationality to obtain a public sector job.

Serious Lapse in Verification Process

This incident has sparked a larger debate on the efficacy of the recruitment and verification procedures in the education sector. With a Pakistani national having successfully bypassed existing checks and balances, officials are under increasing pressure to overhaul the system to prevent similar cases in the future. Meanwhile, the education department in Bareilly is reviewing all recent appointments to ensure that no other individual with false credentials is on its payroll.
