PAN 2.0 Project: Cabinet gives nod for QR Code PAN Cards for smarter, digital future
PAN 2.0 project, with an estimated cost of ₹1,435 crore, has been given the go-ahead by the Government of India. This transformational initiative would catapult a new revolution in the PAN and TAN services delivery process. Approved by the CCEA cabinet committee, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PAN 2.0 Project is to upgrade the existing PAN into a new system that is efficient, secure, and user-friendly for taxpayers.
The most exciting feature in the PAN 2.0 Project is the QR code-enabled PAN card. All citizens will receive free-of-charge enhanced cards, along with better security and convenience of access. The whole system is promised to be streamlined through the integration of PAN and TAN services at a single portal. This electronic backbone will bring in more efficient, easier, and faster service delivery, cutting down on paperwork and making the services completely online.
One important leap towards e-governance, the PAN 2.0 project will thus have several key benefits, for example:
Easy access to PAN and TAN: An integrated platform will provide easy access to PAN and TAN services, thereby ensuring speedy and efficient service delivery.
It will integrate all PAN and TAN services into a single business identification system by putting into effect the long-standing demand of the commercial world.
Added Security: A PAN data vault system will be implemented to protect the private information of taxpayers. It will become mandatory for all entities working with a PAN data system, which ensures high security for sensitive information.
Save Paper: The procedure is going to be paperless, so in addition to saving time, it also supports the environment by saving paper and handling less physical activity.
Registration and verification services will thus be integrated with various activities, resulting in faster registration and verification services with good quality and accuracy.
How PAN 2.0 Improves Digital Experience
The new system will optimize the registration and verification processes, thereby enhancing the taxpayer's experience. It will also ensure a single source of truth to maintain data consistency besides getting accurate trustworthy data used.
When will the PAN 2.0 System be Implemented?
The PAN 2.0 Project is set to roll out soon, with QR code-enabled PAN cards being issued and the unified portal becoming fully operational. The changes will be a game-changer for businesses and individuals who rely on PAN for financial transactions.
