Sadhguru Announces Animated Film ‘Shiva - The Adiyogi’, Set for Worldwide Release in 2027

This Shravan, Sadhguru has announced a new animated feature film on Shiva - The Adiyogi, in partnership with Graphic India, the studio known for the animated series The Legend of Hanuman.

The film will tell the story of Shiva as Adiyogi, described in the yogic tradition as the first yogi and the source of Yoga. Based on the yogic lore narrated by Sadhguru, the film will explore the origins of Yoga through animation and cinematic storytelling.

The film is being planned for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027.

Sharad Devarajan, Co-Founder of Graphic India, will be the producer, co-creator and writer of the film. Graphic India’s animation studio is leading the production, which is currently in development.

Speaking about the yogic view of Shiva, Sadhguru said that in the yogic tradition, Shiva is not seen as a God but as Adiyogi, the first yogi, and Adiguru, the first guru.

He said Shiva introduced the idea that the limits set by nature are not permanent and that a person can go beyond them through effort and attain liberation.

Devarajan is known for his work in Indian animation and character entertainment. He is the co-creator of The Legend of Hanuman and also worked as writer and co-creator on the animated Baahubali series, including Baahubali: The Lost Legends and Baahubali: Crown of Blood.

He is also the co-creator of Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian version of Spider-Man created for Marvel, who later appeared in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The makers said Shiva - The Adiyogi will use large-scale animation to bring the story of Adiyogi to audiences around the world.

The film aims to present an important part of India’s yogic and spiritual tradition in a way that can connect with audiences of different age groups and from different cultures.

Graphic India’s award-winning animation team is currently working on the project. The film is scheduled to reach cinemas worldwide in 2027.
