Woman in Uttar Pradesh Caught on Video Feeding Rat to Stray Dog, Faces Legal Action
A shocking video has emerged from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, showing a woman tying a rat's tail and feeding it to a stray dog. The video, which quickly went viral on social media, prompted swift action from the police, who have since registered a case against the woman. Authorities have stated that strict action will be taken against her.
This is not the first instance of animal cruelty involving rats in Badaun. In a previous case, a man was arrested for killing a rat in a brutal manner. The recent incident has once again highlighted concerns about cruelty to animals in the region.
Incident Details
The woman, seen in the video, reportedly tied a string around the rat's tail, tortured it, and then took it outside to feed to a stray dog. She held the rat in front of the dog, waiting until the dog caught and killed the animal. Unbeknownst to her, someone was recording the entire incident, which was later shared widely on social media.
Police and Activist Response
A police officer involved in the case said, "Such cruelty towards defenseless animals will not be tolerated. The woman will face strict legal action." Authorities have made it clear that incidents of animal cruelty will be taken seriously, and offenders will be held accountable.
Previous Incident of Rat Cruelty in 2022
This recent case brings back memories of a similar incident from 2022, when a man named Manoj Kumar tied a stone to a rat's tail, beat it, and threw it into a drain, leading to the rat’s death. In that case, Vikendra Sharma, the same animal rights activist, had filed a complaint, initially met with reluctance by the police. However, following public outrage, the police registered a case and arrested the accused. The dead rat's post-mortem was conducted at the IVRI center in Bareilly.
The latest incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for stronger enforcement of animal cruelty laws to prevent such acts in the future.
