Indian Doctor Arrested In US For Recording Thousands of Images and Videos of Nude Children, Women

Washington: A 40-year-old Indian doctor, Oumair Aejaz, has been detained in the United States on a $2 million bond after being charged with multiple sex crimes. The charges stem from allegations that he secretly recorded hundreds of nude images and videos of women and children over several years, according to media reports.

Aejaz was arrested on August 8 after it was discovered that he had placed hidden cameras in various locations, including bathrooms, changing rooms, hospital rooms, and his own home. The recordings reportedly included footage of children as young as two years old in various states of undress, Fox News reported.

The investigation began when Aejaz's wife alerted authorities with disturbing materials she found. Prior to his arrest, Aejaz had no criminal history. Further, it was alleged that he recorded sexual encounters with multiple women who were unconscious or asleep, as stated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard described the scale of Aejaz’s offenses as extensive, indicating that it will take months to fully assess the scope of his crimes. Authorities suspect there may be numerous other victims, as thousands of videos have been recovered from Aejaz's home in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

"The victimization is so broad and the perversion so great, we're just beginning to wrap our arms around it," Bouchard remarked, likening the severity of Aejaz’s actions to those of Larry Nassar, the disgraced sports doctor convicted of abusing numerous young women.

Aejaz was formally charged on August 13 with one count of child sexually abusive activity, four counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person, and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime. He is currently being held in Oakland County Jail.

Authorities have seized several electronic devices from Aejaz’s home, including computers, phones, and 15 external storage devices. One hard drive alone contained 13,000 videos, and investigators believe he may have uploaded additional footage to cloud storage.

The investigation is ongoing, with officials continuing to sift through "jarring, alarming images." Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald confirmed that Aejaz exploited his position of trust, targeting respected institutions and hospitals, which have been cooperating with the investigation.

Many allegations involve Aejaz allegedly recording a mother and her children inside a changing room at the Goldfish Swimming Club in 2023. He is also suspected of assaulting patients in hospital rooms.

Aejaz, who moved to the US in 2011 on a work visa, previously worked at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Ascension Genesys Hospital. Due to the difficulty in identifying all potential victims, authorities have provided an email for anyone who may have information to contact them.
