Japan’s Bullet Train Becomes a ‘Train to Busan’-Inspired Zombie Apocalypse Ride: Passengers Experience a Terrifying Journey

Experience zombies on Japan’s bullet train, inspired by ‘Train to Busan.’ Props and actors turned the ride into a thrilling, lifelike apocalypse experience.

In a thrilling pre-Halloween event, Japan’s famous bullet train was transformed into a real-life zombie apocalypse experience! On October 19, passengers on the Shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka were met with the living dead, as part of a special event organized by Kowagarasetai, in collaboration with the train authorities. Inspired by the popular South Korean movie Train to Busan (2016), the event brought together almost 40 actors portraying zombies to create an immersive and spine-chilling experience.

A Frightening Zombie Invasion

As the high-speed train began its journey, passengers were startled by actors jerking in agony and transforming into zombies, filling the carriages with blood-curdling terror. Equipped with realistic props such as blood, chainsaws, and guns, the actors gave passengers a taste of a full-fledged zombie apocalypse. One traveler, Joshua Payne, told AFP, “I felt like I was in the film, just sitting here watching it unfold.

A Unique Mix of Thrills and Entertainment

The two-hour journey wasn’t all horror. Alongside the zombie invasion, cheerleaders, magicians, and comedians kept the mood lively, offering a mix of terror and humor. The Shinkansen, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, provided the perfect backdrop for this one-of-a-kind event.

A Pricey but Worthwhile Ride

While tickets for the zombie apocalypse ride were priced at 50,000 yen ($335), passengers agreed that it was well worth the money for such a unique experience. The combination of fear, entertainment, and the bullet train’s speed made the event unforgettable.
