Nairobi, Kenya, September 6, 2024 — A tragic fire at a boarding school in Kenya has resulted in the death of 17 children and left 14 others with severe injuries. The blaze broke out at Hillside Endarasha Primary School, raising concerns that the death toll may increase as the investigation continues.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and have promised to take necessary measures. This incident echoes a similar tragedy that occurred in Nairobi in 2017, where 10 students lost their lives.

The recent disaster has sparked nationwide concern over safety standards in boarding schools. The Kenya Red Cross is providing psychological and social support services to students, teachers, and affected families. Additionally, a tracing desk has been established at the school to assist with the aftermath.

In a related note, a fire in Kuwait has also made headlines, with 35 people, including four Indians, losing their lives in a recent blaze.

In Kenya's Machakos County, a devastating school fire 20 years ago resulted in the deaths of at least 67 students. According to government reports, approximately 350 Kenyan schools have been affected by fires between 2015 and 2016.
