India Exports Pinaka Missile System to Armenia

India has made a landmark achievement in its defense sector by exporting the first batch of the indigenous Pinaka missile system to Armenia. The Pinaka system, developed under the initiative "Make in India," is a multi-barrel rocket launcher designed with precision for long-range strikes. 

What is the Pinaka Missile System?

The Pinaka is a multi-barrel rocket launcher system developed for precision and long-range targeting. Developed by the DRDO, the system comes in multiple variants and can reach up to 80 kilometers. It has been tested over numerous times and is currently being integrated into the Indian Army and will be deployed in large numbers. Named after the bow of Lord Shiva, Pinaka represents India's growing prowess in advanced weaponry systems.

Armenia: A High Purchaser 

 India and Armenia recently agreed to have the former supply the Pinaka system, which has since been delivered as part of the first lot. After two years of negotiation, Armenia has gone on to become a major buyer of Indian military hardware. Currently, Armenia ranks as the third largest importer of Indian defense hardware, after the US and France.

International Interest in Pinaka

Apart from Armenia, Southeast Asia and Europe have had interest in purchasing the Pinaka missile system. One such country- France has been keenly willing to buy the system, which further affirms the global interest in India's defense capabilities.

 Collaboration and Development

The Pinaka system has been developed by Solar Industries and Munitions India Limited, both based at Nagpur. This collaboration shows the growing prowess of Indian scientists in producing world-class defense solutions. The successful trial and implementation of Pinaka have laid the foundation for India to be a reliable defence exporter.

The export of the Pinaka system will not only add strength to India's defense ties with Armenia but also enable India to establish itself as an important player in the global arms market as a means of creating self-reliance in defense production.
