According to reports, Rahul Anand's 140-year-old house was first looted by the attackers, then vandalized, and finally set on fire. The house contained over 3000 musical instruments, all of which were destroyed by the violent mob.

At one point, Rahul Anand’s home even received a visit from French President Emmanuel Macron. This visit took place in September 2023, during Macron’s trip to Dhaka, where he met with the singer at his residence.

Who is Rahul Anand?

Born on March 7, 1976, Rahul Anand has been deeply connected to music for many years. He was born in Sylhet, Eastern Bangladesh, and now resides in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Rahul Anand holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of Dhaka. In addition to being a musician, he is also a visual artist.

Rahul Anand has participated in eight residency programs in countries such as the UK, Japan, India, Egypt, and Brazil as a visual artist, musician, and actor. He is currently associated with the Dhaka-based folk band Joler Gaan, which was formed in 2006. The band comprises Rahul and eight other members who perform across the country and around the world.
