Blind Descent: New Sci-Fi Co-Op Survival Game Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox

META Publishing and the team behind Pokuch have collaborated to reveal a new co-op sci-fi survival game called Blind Descent. The title was revealed at the Future Games Show and also at Summer Game Fest, and it will be released on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. PC Early Access is planned for some time in 2026, presumably on Steam, Epic Games Store, and potentially GOG.

Deep Underground on Mars

In 2071, the game drops players deep into the Martian surface, where a rescue mission has been a total disaster. Ponder being deployed nearly 10 miles underground to an alien, unfriendly universe. The mission was a routine rescue, but events take a turn for the worse. Players are left to survive in a bizarre and spooky biosphere where nothing is what it appears to be and every corner holds peril.

Mutate or Die: Symbiosis System

The most impressive aspect of the game is the Symbiosis System. Survival in Blind Descent isn't merely about resource collection and crafting — it's coexisting (or not) with the world itself. The world is an agent that responds to what you're doing. If you foul things up, the world might strike back. Bizarre alien flora and fauna live in the depths, and you can engage with them. If you consume alien spores or fruit, you could mutate. Mutations can assist you in surviving and venturing out but also have risks of their own.

Building, Crafting, and Surviving

Aside from surviving, you will be able to build and craft your way through Mars. Base construction is a large part of the game, but it comes with its risks. Should you construct a base and leave it alone, the alien landscape can begin to reclaim it. Bizarre growths could engulf your buildings, so you need to remain aware. You will also study alien biology in order to understand how to craft tools and new objects. But be careful — things on Mars can quickly spiral out of control.

There’s also a lot of vertical movement. Forget simple walking around — you’ll need climbing tools and sticky devices to navigate difficult terrain. The game isn’t just about exploring the surface; it’s about moving through the planet, which makes it stand out from many other survival games.
