Google Gemini Live Rolls Out for Free Android Users: Chat Naturally with 10 New Voices!

Google has officially launched Gemini Live for free users on Android, introducing 10 new voices. Initially made available to Gemini Advanced subscribers in August, this feature is now accessible to all users in English.

In a post on X, the Google Gemini App account announced, "Live is now available for all Gemini users in English on the Android app. We can’t wait for you to try it."

With Gemini Live, users can interact with Gemini through natural, conversational exchanges. The feature can be accessed via the bottom-right corner of the Gemini overlay or app. Upon selecting it, the interface expands to full screen, displaying "Hold" and "End" buttons at the bottom, as reported by 9to5Google. Even if the app is closed, Gemini Live continues to run in the background. To end a session, users can either say "stop" or swipe down to access notifications.

Each conversation comes with a text transcript that shows the user's prompts and Gemini’s responses, allowing users to restart a session if needed. Currently, Gemini Live does not yet support real-time access to services like Gmail or YouTube Music through chat extensions, but these features are expected soon, along with camera capabilities under Project Astra. Google also plans to launch Gemini Live on iOS in the near future. Users can also manually force stop the Gemini app to apply updates.

The 10 new voice options in Gemini Live are available for all Gemini users. To explore these voices, navigate to Gemini Settings and select Gemini’s voice options.
