Hyundai Creta Electric: Design and Features

The Creta Electric retains the familiar design of its ICE counterpart but incorporates unique elements that highlight its electric identity. These include a closed front grille, a front-mounted charging port, sleek aerodynamic alloy wheels, and revamped bumpers with connected LED tail lamps. The front will likely sport horizontally aligned LED headlamps with integrated turn signals.

Inside, the Creta Electric is set to adopt several high-end features from Hyundai’s flagship EV, the Ioniq 5. A 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose sound system, voice-activated panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats are expected. Additional features may include dual-zone climate control and Hyundai’s signature 4-dot steering wheel.

Safety gets a major upgrade with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot detection are among the features likely to be offered. Other safety highlights include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a powered tailgate.

Powertrain and Performance

The Creta Electric will reportedly feature a 45 kWh battery paired with an electric motor delivering 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque. This setup is expected to provide a driving range of 450 km on a single charge. Advanced regenerative braking technology will further enhance efficiency and extend range.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Creta Electric will enter a competitive electric SUV segment that includes the Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE.05. Manufactured at Hyundai’s Chennai plant alongside the standard Creta, it is projected to have a starting price of Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai is also planning to expand its EV lineup with models like the Alcazar EV, set for a late 2025 launch.
