Kia has introduced its highly anticipated Syros SUV, featuring premium features and a spacious cabin. The SUV is expected to make a mark with its distinctive design, and now, ahead of its February 1st launch, the fuel efficiency figures have been revealed. Let's take a closer look at the engine options and fuel economy of the Kia Syros.

Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency of Kia Syros

The Kia Syros offers two engine options for potential buyers: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Petrol Engine: The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The petrol variant's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency stands at 18.2 km/l for the manual transmission and 17.68 km/l for the automatic transmission.

Diesel Engine: The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 116 hp and 250 Nm of torque, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Fuel efficiency for the diesel variant is 20.75 km/l with the manual and 17.65 km/l with the automatic.

How Does Kia Syros Compare to Rivals?

Petrol Mileage Comparison:
When compared to rivals in the sub-4-meter SUV segment, Syros' petrol mileage is slightly lower. For example, the Kia Sonet, which shares the same engine options, achieves slightly better fuel efficiency, with the turbo petrol DCT variant delivering 19.2 km/l. The Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza offer similar performance, with Maruti Brezza automatic variants leading the pack at 19.80 km/l.

Diesel Mileage Comparison:
In the diesel segment, the Syros performs well but still lags behind competitors like the Tata Nexon, which offers 23.23 km/l with the manual and 24.08 km/l with the automatic. The Hyundai Venue diesel variant offers an impressive 23.7 km/l with the manual transmission, leading the pack in diesel MT variants.

The Syros’ diesel MT mileage of 20.75 km/l is competitive but not the best in class. However, its larger size and premium features may justify the slightly lower fuel efficiency.

Kia Syros offers a blend of premium features, enhanced space, and solid fuel efficiency. While it may not lead in terms of fuel economy, it competes well with its rivals in both petrol and diesel segments. As the SUV makes its debut, it will be interesting to see how it fares against its competitors in the market.
