Norton Motorcycles, a UK-based brand owned by TVS Motor Company, plans to start manufacturing its bikes in India from 2025, according to recent reports.
TVS Managing Director Sudarshan Venu discussed the company's strategy during a media interaction. He emphasized that TVS would utilize its robust manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure in India to support Norton Motorcycles. Production will take place at TVS' Hosur plant.
"I believe high-quality manufacturing is what TVS really brings. It is the strength of TVS. Therefore, we will definitely use that fully, to leverage Norton," Venu said. "But at the same time, they (the bikes) will be uniquely Norton, which is why we’re having European design, European marketing, European engineering as well. And so, we will bring this combination together to create products which are uniquely Norton."
Currently, TVS also manufactures select BMW products at its Hosur plant, including BMW's 310cc range developed in collaboration with TVS. The BMW CE 02 electric scooter is produced at this facility as well.
