What Is NYT Strands?
Strands is basically a puzzle combining Spelling Bee, Connections and classic crossword puzzles. The puzzle offers a 6 x 8-inch board and a theme every day. You are challenged to solve the Spangram and find the theme words.
How To Play?
With your mouse or fingers (on a touch screen), create words by connecting letters on a grid in three ways - horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
You must figure out the Spangram or the central theme word to understand the Strands theme better.
Players should try to uncover other theme words apart from the Spangram itself. If you manage to uncover all, Bingo! It means, you have successfully solved the puzzle.
Tips For Solving The Puzzle
Find the theme words by filling out the table completely. Once found without overlapping, they get marked in blue colour.
The Spangram is a key piece of the puzzle covering the two sides of the board. You must find it as it sums up the topic of the puzzle. If you uncover, it will get marked in yellow.
As a guide, find off-topic words. For every three non-theme words you uncover, their letters will highlight a clue pointing to a themed word—without revealing it outright.
