Skoda is gearing up to launch its first compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, on November 6, 2024. According to reports, production will begin next month, with the model expected to be available in showrooms by March 2025. Skoda plans to produce 4,000 to 5,000 units of the Kylaq every month at its Chakan plant, catering to both domestic and export markets.
New Design of Skoda Kylaq
The Skoda Kylaq will feature the company’s latest 'Modern Solid' design language. It will be built on the MQB A0 IN platform and will showcase a wide front grille with vertical slats. Other design highlights include split headlamps and a kinked glasshouse. The Kylaq will have a smaller wheelbase and a more compact size compared to the Kushaq.

Interior and Features of Skoda Kylaq
Although detailed information about the interior is not yet available, it is expected that the Kylaq's cabin will share similarities with the Kushaq. Higher variants may come equipped with features such as ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated leather seats, and wireless charging.
Other expected features include a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, adjustable driver’s seat, multiple airbags, ABS with ESC and EBD, Isofix anchors, rear parking sensors, TPMS, auto start-stop function, and traction control.
Engine and Performance of Skoda Kylaq
The Skoda Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, delivering 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission.
Competition for Skoda Kylaq
The Skoda Kylaq will compete with models such as the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. With shared components from the Kushaq and its locally sourced platform, the Kylaq’s pricing is expected to be competitive in the market.
