Vivo X Fold 5 Unveiled: Lightweight Design and Powerful Specs

Vivo has officially confirmed the soon-to-come X Fold 5, labeling it as the world's lightest foldable phone. The confirmation came today from Vivo China's Product Manager, Han Boxiao, on Weibo, which also revealed a few of the device's key details before its China launch later this month, with a worldwide release also coming by early July.
Vivo X Fold 5: Lightest Foldable Phone
Weighing in at 209 grams, the X Fold 5 is light years ahead of its ancestor, the Vivo X Fold 3, at 219 grams, and the OPPO Find N5, at 229 grams. Despite being lighter than most of its peers, it won't be the thinnest foldable. That distinction could belong to the Honor Magic V5, which should fold at a mere 8mm.
When unfolded, the X Fold 5 is just 4.3mm thick, and 9.33mm when folded — super slim and designed for greater portability.
Vivo X Fold 5: Display and Performance
The X Fold 5 will boast:
- 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover screen
- 8.03-inch AMOLED inner display, both with 120Hz refresh rate for seamless visuals.
Under the hood, there is Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset powering the device, providing speedy performance and low power consumption. Accompanied by a 6,000 mAh+ battery, the device has 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging support, making it easily portable.
Camera Configuration
The Vivo X Fold 5 will boast an impressive quad-camera configuration:
- 50 MP primary camera
- 50 MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens
- 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera
Dual 20 MP selfie cameras for high-quality self-portraits
This advanced camera system ensures sharp images and versatility for any photography enthusiast.
Vivo X Fold 5: Storage and RAM
The X Fold 5 will come with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, providing ample space for all your apps, media, and files. The device will run on Android 15-based OriginOS 5/Funtouch OS 15, offering a smooth, customizable software experience.
Vivo X Fold 5:Durability and Design
Although the gadget lacks an official IP rating for water resistance, it is reportedly IPX4 rated, which can withstand splashes of water. The huge circular camera module on the rear adheres to Vivo's design language, providing a premium and minimalist look.
Pricing Expectations
Apart from the X Fold 5, Vivo will also release the Vivo Pad 5e tablet featuring a 12.1-inch LCD and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, along with Vivo TWS Air 3 Pro earbuds. The X Fold 5 should be priced lower than the Find N5 and Magic V5, which employ Snapdragon 8 Elite chips. This can translate to the fact that when the X Fold 5 arrives on Indian shores, it can be priced cheaper than the predecessor, the X Fold 3 Pro.
