Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Launching in July to Challenge Tesla Model Y

Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV: Xiaomi is all set to shake up the Chinese electric SUV market with the arrival of its second EV and its first electric SUV — the Xiaomi YU7. On the market in July 2025, the YU7 comes after the phenomenal success of the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, which has already recorded more than 2.58 lakh units of sales.
Xiaomi YU7 Variants, Specs & Performance
The YU7 will come in three trim levels — Standard, Pro, and Max:
YU7 Standard (RWD):
Fitted with a 96.3 kWh LFP battery, it provides 320 PS and has a range of 835 km, the longest of all.
YU7 Pro (AWD):
Same battery but with an additional front motor for 496 PS combined output and 770 km range.
YU7 Max (AWD):
The performance-oriented version comes equipped with a 101.7 kWh NCM battery, two motors that produce 690 PS, and a top speed of 253 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, outpacing the Tesla Model Y Performance variant on paper.
With regards to charging, Xiaomi YU7 also takes the lead in the capacity to add 620 km of range within 15 minutes, as opposed to Tesla Model Y's approx. 260 km within the same duration.

Sleek yet sporty, the Xiaomi YU7 has dimensions:

What's Next for Xiaomi EVs?
Available today only in China, Xiaomi is currently the 8th largest BEV seller worldwide, with a 2.8% market share. The brand, however, intends to enter global EV markets by 2027, which could introduce direct competition to Tesla across more markets.
With the YU7 SUV set to arrive in July, Xiaomi is ready to extend its dominance of electric vehicles — and Tesla Model Y has genuine competition at last in its backyard.
