2023 Honda City Facelift vs New-Gen Hyundai Verna: Which one is right for you?

Published Date:

Honda has unveiled a mid-life facelift for the City in the Indian market, adding some new features and making some cosmetic changes. The Verna, which Hyundai is also getting ready to sell in the nation this month, will receive a generational update. Aside from other cars with comparable prices, the Hyundai Verna and the Honda City are likely the most fierce competitors in the mid-size sedan sector and will continue to engage in combat.

Dimensions

The 2023 Honda City facelift has a wheelbase length of 2600 mm, dimensions of 4549 mm by 1748 mm by 1489 mm, and height of 1489 mm.

In contrast, the 2023 new-generation Hyundai Verna will measure 4535 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, 1475 mm in height, and a class-leading 2670 mm in length for its wheelbase. Hence, the City is wider and has a shorter wheelbase than the impending new Verna, which is also longer and higher. Also, the 2023 Verna will feature a 528-liter trunk, compared to the 506-liter City.

Powertrains

The 1.5-liter NA petrol engine that powers the 2023 Honda City produces 121 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT as an option. The 1.5-liter petrol engine in the City e:HEV (hybrid) produces 126 PS and 253 Nm and is coupled to an e-CVT transmission.

The 1.5-liter NA petrol engine that powers the 2023 Hyundai Verna will have a maximum output of 115 PS and a maximum torque of 144 Nm. Also, a brand-new 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 160 PS/253 Nm rating will likely be available, along with a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 7-speed DCT.

Price

The price of the 2023 Honda City facelift starts at Rs 11.49 lakh and rises to Rs 15.97 lakh. The City hybrid, on the other hand, is offered in two models with prices starting at Rs 18.89 lakh and Rs 20.39 lakh, respectively. The new-generation Hyundai Verna is anticipated to cost around Rs 11 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
