Another Pure EV Scooter Catches fire In Hyderabad, No one Injured

Published Date:

While the two wheeler EV segment was supposed to bring people to the world of EV with their affordable price tags they have achieved a feat quite the opposite, and a recent incident of a EV again catching fire wouldn’t help the case as well. A E PLUTO G7 by Pure EV, again caught fire in Hyderabad on Wednesday, however no one was injured in the incident.

The incident took place when the rider who is a food delivery agent , was traveling along with his friends, and the scooter suddenly stopped, when he opened the battery compartment to check he was shocked to find smoke creeping out of the batteries, soon the vehicle caught fire and turned into rubble.

Video Surfaced Over the Internet

A video of the incident surfaced over the internet the owner filed a complaint at LB Nagar police station. The owner said that he recently purchased the scooter at a price of nearly 90,000. Pure EV has issued a voluntary recall of all 2000 of its electric scooters since the fire incident began. However , the company has not issued any statement on the latest incident yet.

Recalls issued

Okinawa Auto tech and The Ola electric are the two other  manufacturers who have issued recalls of their E-scooters amid the Ev fire incident, the center has also instilled a probe into the multiple EV fire cases to find out the reason.

Last year an old man got severely injured as well as his family suffered minor injuries as well, as one of the electric scooters plugged in charging exploded at their house in Nizamabad district, In another incident , batteries of an electric scooter exploded on May 8th at night while being charged in karminnagar district, though no one was injured in the incident .

Government Investigation Initail Findings

The probe instilled by the government revealed in their initial findings that the reason behind the fire has been cheaply assembled cells that are imported from china and Taiwan. These cells are then assembled into batteries locally without following any pre-instated  rules because there aren’t any. Take due care before buying an EV and always buy a tested and renowned product.
