Bajaj Pulsar’s have always struck a chord with us Indians ever since its first iteration was launched in the market. The bike has been a venerable name for Indians when looking for affordable sporty looking bikes for daily commutes.
But recently the brand has started reshaping itself as they announced Pulsar 250 twins late last year, the brand has been focusing on bikes that are targeted towards youngsters with sleek designs and features. The company has been in the pursuit of launching newer vehicles under The Pulsar line up. Recently we reported spotting of a pulsar 125 cc test mule that is about to break into the market. A recent poster reveal report alleges that the new 160n would be launched in the market this month.
Bike Was Spotted Testing Earlier
test mule of Bajaj 160 n was spotted recently; reports indicate that this could be a small commuter bike . Surprisingly the bike was without any camouflage at this point of time, the bike was spotted in Pune. It carried forward the style language of the N250. According to reports the bike could be future replacement for the 160 cc street fighter that Bajaj has in the market currently.
Headlight of the bike were pretty similar to the N250 quarter litre Bajaj, the bike gets projector LED headlights, and it was set in the headlight complemented by two LED DRL’S . The indicators are not integrated in to the head cowl , the split tail lamp is led as well . And just like any other pretentious street fighter it has an up swept tail with split grab rails.
Shares Parts with the 250
The bike shares its underpinnings with the Pulsar 250 hence it has the same forks in the front and a mono shock at the rear. Even the body panels of the bike seemed similar to that of the Pulsar N250
Its possible that Bajaj might bring in a newly developed 160 cc engine based on the architecture of the N250 engines. The current gen 160cc engine produces 17.03 BHP and a peak torque of about 14.60NM. The mule spotted had a kick starter as well which is a rare sight these days.
It was hard to notice whether the new version had oil cooler or not , the new down pipe is neatly tucked in supported by a bash plate which houses the new catalytic converter as well. Although there has been no confirmation by Bajaj but according to reports the bike might hit the markets by 2023.
Braking system comprises 260mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard. Bajaj Pulsar 160 N weighs 151 kg and offers 177 mm of ground clearance. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 12 litres. As the changes are largely cosmetic in nature, new-gen Bajaj Pulsar 160NS could get a marginal price hike. The current model is priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
