Bajaj Auto, one of India’s leading two wheeler manufacturers, has recently trademarked three new names for the Indian market namely Dynamo, Technica and Technica. While Bajaj Auto has received formal reviews for the Dynamo name, the Technica and the Technica have received Approved and Advertised status for now. These names were registered under Class 12, which includes normal fueled two wheelers, electric vehicles as well as three wheelers.
Why was this name chosen?
The word dynamo means an electric generator that generates direct current using a device called a commutator. This device converts rotational mechanical energy into electrical energy. In our estimation, Bajaj Dynamo could be used for electric two-wheeler, apart from this name it could also be used for the new ICE platform and EV platform. Technik is a German word which means technology, Technik means technical.
Bajaj currently sells Chetak Electric
Bajaj Auto has already announced that the company will focus on both fuel-powered vehicles and electric car portfolio. The company’s Chetak electric scooter is currently being sold in the Indian market. In addition, the company is working closely with Yulu to develop an all-new scooter. This new EV will be launched by the end of 2022. After that Bajaj Auto is preparing to launch many more electric vehicles under the Chetak brand.
More than one electric scooter and motorcycle is going to be launched in India this year. Some companies are registering new names to increase their presence in the market. In the same sequence, Bajaj Auto has also registered a new motorcycle named Bajaj Dynamo this month. However, it is difficult to say right now whether it will be a petrol-powered motorcycle or an electric one.
Bajaj Auto has registered in the name of Bajaj Dynamo. Hearing this name, auto experts speculate that this could be Bajaj’s first electric motorcycle. However, it is too early to say anything now. The term “dynamo” is usually associated with a device that converts rotary mechanical energy into electrical energy. Since it is electric, it is possible that Bajaj Dynamo is targeting the electric segment. Bajaj Dynamo is patented under Class 12 registration which covers all class of vehicles.
Bajaj will focus more on both its ICE and EV portfolio in the coming years. Also, the company should be more serious in the EV segment. Because at present Bajaj only has Chetak electric scooter. Bajaj is currently developing an all-new EV in association with Yulu, which is expected to launch later this year. It will not be sold in the retail market like Chetak. It will be used exclusively by Yulu for its technology-driven mobility platform.
Bajaj plans to expand the Chetak portfolio for its customers, with new products as well as new sub-brands. For instance, there are plans to launch the Pulsar electric motorcycle. Bajaj is also working with KTM and Husqvarna to develop its electric two-wheelers.
