Citroen E-C3 vs Tata Tigor EV: A detailed comparison of price and features

Published Date:

On February 27, the French automotive manufacturer Citroen unveiled the E-C3, its first electric vehicle produced in India for international sales. The inaugural starting price for the E-C3 electric hatchback, which comes in four variants, is 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The E-C3 was expected to compete with the Tata Tiago EV, India’s most cheap electric vehicle, when Citroen introduced it earlier this year. The E-C3 is more likely to compete with Tata’s electric car Tigor EV due to its cost, though. This is a short comparison of the costs, available features, range, and other factors between the Citroen and Tata electric vehicles.

Aspects of Tata Tigor EV vs. Citroen E-C3

Although the French auto giant’s electric hatchback resembles an SUV, it misses several of the amenities that its competition offers. The E-C3 has more than 35 connected car technologies, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. In addition, Citroen provides optional equipment including front dash cameras, reverse parking cameras, air purifiers, front fog lights, and twin USB charging ports.

While the Tata Tigor EV has the majority of these amenities, it also has a number of other things that the French EV does not, not even in its accessory pack. These include, among others, the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto-dimming inside rearview mirrors (IRVM), auto-folding outside rearview mirrors (ORVM), automatic climate control, automatic cruise control, automatic projector headlights, rain-sensing wipers, rear armrest, and leather seats.

Batteries and Charging comparison between Tata Tigor EV vs. Citroen E-C3

Tata Tigor EV’s battery pack is smaller than that of the Citroen E-C3. The Tigor EV features a 26 kWh battery pack, compared to the French EV’s 29.2 kWh battery pack. According to Citroen, the E-battery C3’s pack enables DC rapid charging, enabling a charge top-up of 10-80% in 57 minutes. The battery pack would need 10.5 hours to charge from 10% to 100% using a 15A power outlet. Using a DC fast charger, the Tata Tigor EV recharges in roughly the same amount of time from 10% to 80%.

Range comparison of Tata Tigor EV vs. Citroen E-C3

The Citroen E-C3 EV advertises a 320 km range on a single charge. The electric motor has a maximum output torque of 143 Nm and a peak power of 57 PS. The eC3 has a peak speed of 107 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 6.8 seconds.

Comparatively speaking, the electric hatchback. Tata Tigor EV has greater power thanks to its 74 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque output. Moreover, it accelerates from 0 to 60 kilometres per hour in 5.7 seconds. With a stated efficiency of 306 kilometres on a single charge, it also provides a roughly comparable range.

Pricing comparison between the Citroen E-C3 and the Tata Tigor EV

The price of Citroen’s electric hatchback was predicted to be in the 10-lakh range. It is a competitor to the Tata electric sedan, meanwhile, due to the original starting price of 11.50 lakh, which is anticipated to rise to closer to the 12 lakh level later.

There are four variations of each electric vehicle. The Citroen E-starting C3’s price for the Feel dual tone Vibe Pack model is Rs.12.43 lakh (ex-showroom price). Unless Citroen changes their price, all four models are less expensive than the two Tigor EV basic variants. If there is any confusion, it may ultimately come down to the available body kinds and attributes.
