The world came to a momentary standstill in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak, however, people bounced back with masks, sanitizers and social distancing becoming the new normal.
The automotive sector around the world has been one of the hardest hit by the pandemic. Several big automakers halted production, which resulted in zero sales growth. However, the automotive sector, like many others, recovered with new launches, facelift versions, etc.
Here’s a quick look at top car launches in India in 2020:
Maruti
India didn’t see a major release in 2020 by India’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India. The company rolled out the Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG variant, the Maruti Suzuki 2020 S-Cross with a powerful 1.5L K15B engine and the Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition.
Renault India
Renault India introduced several vehicles throughout 2020. Major car launches from Renault included the Renault Triber AMT, the Renault KWID RXL variant, the Renault Duster 1.3L turbo petrol engine and the Renault KWID 2020 NEOTECH Edition.
Kia
South Korean Auto major Kia also had a slew of auto launches in the country. The automaker launched Kia Seltos updated version, Kia Sonet SUV and the Kia Seltos Anniversary Edition.
BMW, Mercedes and Audi
Among luxury car makers, BMW has made some notable launches in India in 2020.
BMW vehicles included the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo Shadow Edition, the BMW X3 M Midsize Sports Activity Vehicle, the new BMW X5 M Competition and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé “Black Shadow” edition. Mercedes launched the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS, while Audi rolled out the RS Q8.
Honda
Honda launched the Honda City 2020, Honda Jazz 2020, Honda City 4th generation petrol variants, Honda CR-V Special Edition, Honda Amaze exclusive edition and Honda WR-V exclusive edition.
Toyota
Among the most anticipated launches in 2020 included Toyota Urban Cruiser compact SUV and 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift.
Hyundai and others
Hyundai Elantra with BS-VI diesel engine and 2020 Hyundai i20 were Hyundai’s most famous prominent launches.
The Tata Nexon XM S variant with an electric sunroof and the Nissan Magnite SUV, MG Gloster Premium SUV and 2020 Mahindra Thar were also among the few anticipated launches in 2020.
