The I20 Scores a stiff 8.48 out of 17 in Adult occupancy department thus bringing a score of about 3 star. The report seems to have rated the body shell as well as the the footwell of the car as unstable and incapable of withstanding further loads. The I20 lost points due to weak protection to the drivers knees which has been the case with Hyundia Creta as well and weak protection to the drivers Chest. But it redeemed itself by providing  Adequate to good head and neck protection for both the drivers as well as the front passengers.

For the Child occupancy , the I20 secured 36.89 out of 49. The 120 gets ISOFIX anchorages as standard across all variants and child restraint system was well marked as well. but according to the report it lost points due to being incapable of providing safety to the Childs neck region and providing only a lap belt for the middle passenger in the back row.

Comparison with rival cars-(Hyundai I20 Scores 3 Star Rating In Crash Test)

With I20 being a phenomenal offering to the market with its varied feature list across all models and various engine and transmission selection. such a performance from it in the aspects of safety is not fathomable. The Tata Altroz has the Bragging rights in the order as it provides 5 star safety rating to its occupants. The Honda jazz which was tested recently also scored about 4 stars even after being an old car needing a face lift sorely, being in the market since2015. The bowing out Vw polo also rated at 4 stars while the new Suzuki Baleno and Glanza are yet to be tested by the GNCAP.

GNCAP Testing to get more Strict.

The Surveillant role of global NCAP to start measuring active elements of crash avoidance as well in the coming times making the score of 5 stars to be much harder to achieve.2022 would see ESC being mandated and side collisions as well as pedestrian protection tests also to become the norm.
