New Delhi: Global NCAP has recently shared the list of the top safest cars for India. Mahindra’s recently launched XUV700 has received the 5-star adult safety rating for adult occupant protection in a crash test. The official Global NCAP test for the cars was conducted in Germany last month.
Global NCAP tweeted ‘#SaferCarsForIndia was launched by GlobalNCAP in 2014 with the objective of promoting safer vehicles in the country. To date, GlobalNCAP has completed more than forty-six safety assessments which have acted as an important catalyst in the safety improvement of Indian cars.’
Mahindra and Mahindra Chief of Global Product Development Velusamy R. said “When we were developing the XUV700, we were confident that the XUV700 would achieve a 5-star safety rating based on the internal tests done on the vehicle. With XUV700, Mahindra is redefining the SUV segment not just in performance and features but also in terms of safety.”
Cars including Tata Punch, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Altroz, and Tata Nexon have also received a 5-star rating for vehicle crash testing.

“Mahindra has achieved a major milestone with this top score for adult protection and by becoming the first Indian made and owned brand to offer Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as a safety option,” Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas said.
Mahindra XUV700 was launched in August this year, the XUV700 comes in a price range of Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom). XUV700 is a 7-seater SUV that has received a higher rating in terms of safety. The 2.0-liter mHawk turbo diesel engine will give 185 hp power while the 2.0-liter mStallion turbo petrol engine will give 200 hp peak power.
The XUV700 gets electronic parking brakes and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mount, and 4 disc brakes.
