Honda City facelift unveiled: A sneak peek before India launch

Published Date:

On the Indian market, the Honda City of the fifth generation will soon receive a facelift. The upgraded car will debut in India in March. The Japanese automaker completely kept the new sedan’s specifications a secret before to its debut.

That has changed suddenly, though, according to online leaks of revised automobile pictures. The updated photos of the mid-size sedan display all of the vehicle’s external and interior characteristics.

Design of the Honda City facelift

In comparison to the previous model, the Honda City Facelift features little visual modifications. A thin chrome bar has been added to the grille area, and the style of the bumper has been significantly altered. Moreover, the grille has a new pattern with vertical slats for relatively lesser variations and a honeycomb design for higher variants. Together with the redesign, a new blue colour palette is anticipated.

The remainder of the elements, including the side profile, the allows, and several other elements, stay the same. But the back of the car also receives improvements, such as a new bumper and a change in the location of the reflectors, similar to the front.

Characteristics of the Honda City facelift

The inside of the Honda City facelift is very similar to the current model. The Japanese carmaker is anticipated to integrate new features in the vehicle. Expect features like a wireless charging and ventilated seats.

Redesigned Honda City: Powertrain

Honda is probably going to stop making its diesel engines before the upcoming RDE requirements, so when the City facelift goes on sale, it will only be available as a midsize sedan with a gasoline engine. In order to comply with RDE regulations and be compatible with E20 (20 percent ethanol blend), the petrol and strong hybrid powertrains will be upgraded.

The 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 121 horsepower is therefore expected to power the City facelift. It will probably be coupled with either a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-liter petrol-hybrid Atkinson Cycle engine with an e-CVT transmission is another choice. It has 126 horsepower.

Estimated Cost of the Honda City Facelift

There is no information available on the Honda City Facelift’s pricing, however due to the upgrades, it is anticipated that the car would cost more. For Indian buyers, the business may price the automobile between Rs 13 and Rs 17 lakh. The vehicle will compete when it goes on sale against vehicles like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and the impending Hyundai Verna.
