A facelift for the Hyundai Creta, unquestionably one of the most well-liked SUVs in its class, is planned for 2023. Recently, a Creta was seen driving on our neighbourhood roads with test piece strapped to the back of it and a decal reading “On test by ARAI” on the rear windshield.
According to the Rushlane, it may be a lower-spec CNG-equipped Creta version. Previously, the Hyundai Alcazar and Venue were seen testing with CNG equipment. This isn’t the first time Hyundai has been seen testing CNG compatibility with its vehicles. There aren’t any updates available for these vehicles right now.
CNG Hyundai Creta Spied
Hyundai’s sister business Kia was spotted testing the Carens with CNG as well. The Carens CNG variant’s 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine was visible in the stolen spy photo. So, if the Creta CNG is introduced, we may anticipate that its engine will most likely be a 1.4-litre petrol engine engine instead of a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine.
This 1.4L turbo-petrol engine can produce 138 bhp at 6000 RPM and a maximum torque of 242 Nm between 1500 and 3200 RPM in its usual configuration. With CNG fuel, power and torque output will be significantly reduced. Its prices are anticipated to stay under control with just one 6-speed manual. Furthermore, the 7-speed DCT automatic transmission is exceedingly improbable. However, a 6-speed AT is an option.
Hyundai is renowned for offering a wide range of options, including gasoline, diesel, electric vehicles, and compressed natural gas (CNG). Additionally, the Creta might be a wise investment as consumers look more and more for SUVs fueled by CNG. Notably, the Hyundai Creta has the segment’s longest wait time.

Pricing and Availability
The remainder of its engine selection, excluding CNG, will remain the same. For many years to come, diesel is most likely to be used. Diesel engines continue to be incredibly popular and contribute to a portion of sales for Hyundai and Kia. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, linked car technology, a motorised driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, and more will all remain standard on Creta models.
Up to six airbags, brake help, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist control are among the available safety features. A facelift for the Creta is planned and is rumoured to include ADAS features. In contrast to its gasoline counterpart, an increase of Rs. 1 lakh to 1.25 lakh is most likely. An early 2023 launch is possible. Seltos CNG and Carens CNG are likely to come shortly after.
