Hyundai is all set to upgrade the global spec IONIQ 5 before the Indian launch , the car would be launched in India in the second half of the year. The upgrade in the International market to being a new battery and a enhanced range. Would the KIA EV 6 receive similar changes as well before its Indian launch , Only time would tell.
New Battery
Hyundai would update the IONIQ 5 with a 77.4KWh battery along with several range enhancement features as well as new features .The car would have Video –based side view mirrors. The camera’s mounted in the rear wing of the car would offer a panoramic rear view of the car.
New Edition
Hyundai is also all set to launch a new version of the car named Namsan Edition. It would be the new top of range model with improvements in the power train, the edition is named after the Namsan mountain in Seoul, capital of south Korea. The premier versions would also get leather upholstery, soft touch interior , 64 shade ambient lighting and sliding centre console.

Both Battery Specs To Be On Offer
The models would now be available with the old 58KWh battery pack as well as the new 77.4KWh lithium –Ion battery providing an increased range upto 507KM on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. The power output would also Increase by 11hp to 320HP after the shift to 72.6KWh battery pack, the previous gen came with a claimed range of about 451Kms to 430KMs on a single charge.
Variants available Globally
The Hyundai IONIQ- 5 is available in both AWD and 2wd variants. The AWD variant gets twin electric motors powering both the axles. It generates about 350hp of power and 605 NM of torque. The 2 WD 217 hp 350nm and AWD variants of the EV are claimed to be able to run about 451 and 430 km’s respectively on a single full charge .

New Platform By Hyundai
Hyundai’s IONIQ- 5 EV is the first EV to build on Hyundai’s skateboard platform the E-GMP(Electric Global Modular Platform) a platform which would allow the automaker to bring EV vehicles in different segments based on the same Underpinnings. The IONIQ-5 also used to get a unique 800V battery technology. The system allows the battery to charge quickly. This means in just 18 minutes, the IONIQ5’s battery can go from 10 percent to 80 percent using a 220 kW DC charger, would the upgrade bring a new charger with it , no info has been shared as of yet.Would in the inidan these upgrades make it to India in the indan spec or would we get the same older versions of the car is not clear yet.
