KIA recently brought its MPV Kia Carens to the market and with a wide variety of trim levels to choose from a few of the model trims even had a list price lower than that of a 5 seater kia Seltos .A host of spy pictures that surfaced today over the internet today reveal that Kia might be onto something. It seems kia is testing the Carens chassis for further development. The manufacturer is expected to launch Cng version of the Carens to out rival its Competitor Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Engine choices
The spy pictures that have been shared over the internet by V3 cars shows the CNG kit being tested on the 1.4 turbo engine of the Kia Carens . The Carens comes with a host of engines including a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol as well as a 1.5 turbocharged diesel and the one we talked about already . Its not feasible to run CNG on a turbocharged engine, probably it was some kind of a stress testing to collect data. if Kia although pulls it off and brings a CNG variant in the turbo charged engine it would be a market first.

Cng for the Turbo engine
Cng do make the power outputs of the vehicle droop hence its possible that the 1.5 petrol might be tad slower than in its normal form with CNG changes .the turbocharged 1.4 however produces about 140ps and about 242 Nm of peak torque available with 6 speed manual and 7 speed dct. The chances of Cng power train to arrive in the market with a DCT are pretty low.
As of now the main competition of the Carens the Ertiga comes with a CNG power train.and with rising fuel prices quit a lot of manufacturers have actually started bringing in CNG variants of their cars. a few days back kia Sonet was also spootted testing with a CNG powertrain. the model then was also a turbo petrol engine.
