Several new players have entered the electric car market, which has heated up considerably. The newest of the group is the Kia EV9, a concept that was also shown off during the 2023 Auto Expo in India. On March 15, the Kia EV9 made its premiere on a global scale. Now, specifications are available. To offer an all-around EV, Kia appears to have checked every possible box.
The size, appeal, and features are all substantial. It is 5010 mm long, 1980 mm wide, 1755 mm tall, and has a 3100 mm wheelbase, to start. Because of this, its dimensions is comparable to the Kia Telluride SUV. For the Kia EV9, Kia applied its “Opposites Unified” design aesthetic.
Kia EV9 Receives A Modern Design
It boasts a vertical headlamp configuration with stylish, dynamic LED DRLs on either side. Kia’s iconic Tiger Nose grille now goes by the name “Digital Tiger Face,” giving it a distinctive appearance. Front and rear bumpers, 20″ alloy wheels as compared to 19″ on the ordinary model, and more are added to the GT-line.
Dual horizontal displays that take up most of the interior space. one for instruments and the other for infotainment. Together with a central console that is cleverly and logically constructed and put out, there is a new steering wheel. The seating appears to be limited to 6, in a 2+2+2 configuration.
The second and third rows of seats may be folded, revealing a vast flat loading surface. Given how boxy the EV9 is, Kia claims a reasonable 2.8 Cd air drag coefficient. Kia offers a convex underbelly panel at the front and a concave panel at the back to help with aerodynamics. This will function as a huge spoiler and should greatly smooth the air flow.
Kia EV9 Specifications, Batteries, and Engine
This is the most interesting part of the story since it fills in the gaps left by earlier material. The Kia EV9 is based on the E-GMP skateboard, which would eventually give birth to the Hyundai Ioniq 7.
With a 76.1 kWh battery, the RWD form of the EV9 produces 215 horsepower and 350 Nm, racing to 100 km/h in just 8.2 seconds.
A Long Range variant with RWD and AWD choices is available, as well as a 99.8 kWh battery option. Extended Range RWD has a lesser power output of 201 bhp and 350 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. It offers a 541 kilometre range. The AWD variant has two motors that together provide 380 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in six seconds.
With AWD variants, the available Boost mode unleashes an amazing 700 Nm of torque, allowing for a 5.3-second sprint to 100 km/h. Although software and hardware are provided as standard, this Boost mode must be purchased separately from those items in the Kia Connect Store. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of subscription-based connected autos.
Loaded with New Age Features
In addition to the standard equipment for this market, the Kia EV9 has Highway Driving Pilot. It is a Level 3 autonomous driving system with 360-degree FOV object detection capability. Additional Kia Connect Store features include different lighting patterns for the grille and DRL, as well as Kia’s Remote Park Assist 2
