The Mahindra Thar is now India’s most popular SUV with an off-road focus, judging by sales. It was formerly only offered in a 4WD avatar, but the company just released a RWD variant. The five-door Jimny will soon be the Thar’s new opponent. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be introduced in India in the April-June quarter, and reservations are already being accepted. Maruti Suzuki Jimny vs. Mahindra Thar: Dimension
The Thar has the following dimensions: 3,985mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,855mm tall. It features a 226mm ground clearance and a 2,450mm wheelbase. In relation to the Jimny, these dimensions are 3,985mm long, 1,645mm wide, and 1,720mm high. Despite having a 2,590mm wheelbase, the ground clearance is only 210mm.
The ladder frame chassis is the foundation for both SUVs. The Thar has a 41.2 degree approach angle, a 36 degree departure angle, and a 26.2 degree ramp-over angle. The Jimny’s ramp-over angle is 24 degrees, the approach angle is 36 degrees, and the departure angle is 50 degrees. The Thar features either 16-inch or 18-inch wheels, depending on the model. The Jimny, on the other hand, has 15-inch wheels.

Three different engines are available for the Thar: a 1.5-liter D117 CRDe diesel (117 bhp/300 Nm), a 2.2-liter mHawk 130 CRDe diesel (130 bhp/300 Nm), and a 2.0-liter mStallion 150 TGDi petrol (150 bhp/320 Nm).
The Jimny, however, only offers the 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine (103bhp/134Nm).
Maruti Suzuki Jimny vs. Mahindra Thar: Transmission
A 6-speed MT is one of the available gearbox options for the 1.5-liter diesel engine used in the Thar. There are 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT options for the 2.2-liter diesel and 2.0-liter gasoline engines.
Either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT can be used with the Jimny’s 1.5-liter petrol engine.
