Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA 2021 in India at a starting price of Rs 42.10 (ex-showroom). The SUV made its debut in India during the Auto Expo in February 2020.
Initially, it was supposed to be rolled out in the country last year. However, after some delays due to the pandemic, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 2021 is now available in the country. Also, buyers can book the SUV online through Mercedes-Benz’s contactless sales programme.
Variants and prices
The Mercedes-Benz GLA 2021 is available in three variants in India – GLA 200, GLA 220d and GLA 220d 4MATIC.
The price of GLA 200 is Rs 42.10 lakh, while the GLA 220d costs Rs 43.70 lakh and GLA 220d 4MATIC comes at a price tag of Rs 46.70 lakh. (all prices ex-showroom, India).
While the prices are introductory, they will rise by up to Rs 1.50 lakh from July 1, 2021, the automaker has said.
Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Specs
Under the hood, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 gets a 1.3-litre turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine. The powermill is capable of churning out a maximum power of 163 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm.
The engine is connected to speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that transfers power to the front wheels. Furthermore, the GLA 200 can do a sprint of 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h.
220d and 220d 4MATIC specs
On the other hand, the 220d and 220d 4MATIC variants use the same 2.0-liter in-line 4-cylinder diesel engine, which delivers a maximum power of 190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The power is sent to the front wheels in 220d and all wheels in 220d 4M.
The GLA 220d can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 222 km/h. The GLA 220d 4MATIC makes a sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 219 km/h.
