MG Comet EV launch: Unlocking the potential of small electric cars in April 2023

Published Date:

In April 2023, MG plans to introduce the Comet EV, a small electric car, in India. Thereafter, prices and battery information will also be disclosed. In MG’s facility in India, this rebadged version of the Wuling Air from China will be produced. You have a choice of five colours: White, Pink, Yellow, Blue, and Green.

Examining the range and charging capabilities of the MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV has a sleek and futuristic exterior. Split headlights are on it. The remaining lighting configuration consists of turn signals, LED DRLs, and a small LED light beam embedded in the front chrome bar.

Onto both OVRMs, the bar continues. With a stop lamp beam that spans the back and a 2-row split tail lamp, the rear lights follow the same design cue as the front ones. Under the MG trademark on the front, there is a charging port.

For the Comet, Wuling Air EV battery options are anticipated. It has a 17.3kWh battery. A 26.7kWh unit is the larger. The drive range between the two ranges from 200 to 300 kilometres. It is anticipated that the MG Comet EV will feature a 31 KW (41 PS) or 50 kW (68 PS) powertrain. There is uncertainty on the type or models that would be released, however the smaller 18kWh unit would be the most cost-effective for India.

We got the news that Tata Autocomp will supply the Comet EV battery, which will feature LFP cells. Being the smallest car in MG’s portfolio in India, Comet offers buyers a reasonably priced way to explore the world of electric vehicles.

Interior design compabality and features

Wuling Air’s SWB and LWB variations are both 2-door vehicles, with the LWB having four seats. The MG Comet EV is built on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform, which SAIC, GM, and Wuling jointly developed. Automatic climate control, two 10.2″ horizontal displays, a 2-spoke steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, and voice control are expected to be additional features.

The MG Comet EV must meet the pressures of daily driving, but can it?
For those who are interested in electric cars, the MG Comet EV is a wise choice thanks to its range, charging capabilities, design, and features. Its extreme compactness makes it a useful and effective electric vehicle for city driving. Greetings from the world of compact electric vehicles.

Cost price and rivalry slot

The second EV from MG will be called Comet. The pricing of the MG ZS EV in India starts at Rs 23.38 lakh, ex-sh. The MG Comet electric vehicle will compete with the Tata Tiago EV due to its estimated starting price of less than Rs 10 lakh.
