New RDE compliant Kia Seltos begins from 10.89 lakh

Published Date:

The 2023 Seltos SUV from Kia has been introduced in India, with prices starting at Rs 10.89 lakh and rising to Rs 19.65 lakh, ex-showroom. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and turbo-diesel engines are the only ones left in the Seltos’ lineup. These are the largest upgrades to the vehicle’s powertrain, which now has RDE and E20 fuel compatible engines. The 140 horsepower, 1.4-liter turbo engine has been dropped from the lineup, therefore there isn’t now a turbo-petrol engine available.

With this upgrade, the base petrol variant’s pricing has increased by Rs 20,000, while the price increases for the other petrol versions are all Rs 25,000. In the meantime, all diesel models are now Rs 50,000 more expensive.

Updated powerplant lineup for the Kia Seltos

The 1.5-liter normally aspirated petrol engine with 115 horsepower and 144 Nm and the 1.5-liter diesel engine with 116 horsepower and 250 Nm are the only available engines for the Seltos today. The diesel engine’s output has increased by 1 horsepower as a result, but more significantly, the 6-speed manual gearbox that was previously available as standard across the range has been replaced by a 6-speed iMT unit. The diesel engine’s 6-speed torque converter automatic has been kept in place. With regard to the NA petrol engine, both CVT automatic and 6-speed manual gears are still available.

Nevertheless, those who want a turbo-petrol engine on the Seltos would have to wait. It is unknown when Kia will really install the new 160 horsepower, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine in the Seltos, despite the fact that it has already been installed in the Alcazar and the Carens. It might, just might, be with the facelift that will go on sale in the middle of the year. The Creta, a sister of the Seltos, will also get this new 1.5 turbo engine.

Trims and variations for the Kia Seltos

The Seltos is still available in seven trims (HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X Line) and three variants (Tech Line, GT Line, and X Line).

A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on all Tech Line trims, with the exception of the HTX+, which also offers a CVT as an option. The NA petrol engine is available on all Tech Line trims. The diesel engine, meanwhile, is offered on all seven trims; the Tech Line trims come with the 6-speed iMT gearbox, while the HTX, GTX+, and X Line trims have the 6-speed AT gearbox.

Once available with the turbo-petrol engine, the GT Line and X Line trims are now only offered with the diesel-AT powerplant.

The Seltos’ inventory of equipment has not changed. The Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, and MG Astor remain some of its competitors, as does the vehicle as a whole.
