New Delhi: Tata Motors will unveil an all-new electric car concept today (Friday, April 29, 2022). While the automaker remains silent about the new model, a report claims it will be a “safari-sized vehicle.”
The new Tata EV concept will also be a debut on the company’s Born Electric platform, which supports multiple body styles. The production version will probably be launched after 2025.
Tata’s Born Electric platform
ICE motor vehicle platform, an all-electric Sigma platform and a new skateboard architecture are part of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited’s (TPEML) three-platform strategy for its future electric vehicles.
The Born Electric will be a skateboard-only EV platform that aims to allow designers to harness “best weight and space efficiency”. Skateboard architectures typically have a long wheelbase that can accommodate large batteries.

Tata Electric SUV Concept
A new electric SUV would reportedlt be the first product concept to underpin the Born Electric architecture. It is expected to get a lounge-like cabin with advanced elements and connectivity features, as well as autonomous technologies. The design and styling is said to be a cross between an SUV and a MPV.
The Tata EV concept may get a long wheelbase and offer a roomy cabin with a flat floor that can accommodate a large battery. The wheels could stick out to the outer edges of the vehicle. At the rear, the concept could get an illuminated signature badge that spans the rear of the car. Tata’s new electric car concept is rumored to be called ‘Tata Sliq’ as the company recently trademarked the nameplate.
