scooter caught fire in Pune and later on several such incidents took place with scooters from different EV manufacturers sparking concerns over EV batteries, which led to a voluntary recall announced by OLA of about 1441 OLA scooters from the same batch as that of the one that caught fire. Ola regarded it as a preemptive step to safeguard people against battery hazards.
